Peregrines and other birds

Peregrine falcons are an apex predator who mostly feed on other birds. Therefore, it would be extremely irresponsible to put up a nest box without first understanding the potential impact of the surrounding area and local bird populations

A 4 week old peregrine chick needs to eat about 40 grams of fresh food a day in order to develop and their diets can be extremely varied. We recently identified the remains of over 38 different species of birds in a single peregrine nest box

Peregrine falcons’ diet and success is very much determined by their location. Whilst urban peregrines often exploit the abundance of pigeon in our Norfolk towns and city, birds living on our beautiful coastline have a more varied diet including seabirds and waders. For peregrines to be successful there needs to be enough prey
